Terms of service
Who we are
This website is operated by PlugPanel Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 17412062. Our registered office and trading address is 46 Orient Road, Lancing, BN15 8JZ.
You can contact us at info@plugpanel.co.uk or by post at the address above.
These terms apply to every order placed through plugpanel.co.uk. Please read them before you buy. By placing an order you accept them.
What we sell, and what the law allows
We sell plug-in solar kits. From 27 August 2026, SI 2026/848 permits a certified plug-in microgenerator to be connected to an ordinary three-pin socket in Great Britain without an electrician.
Some limits apply to every plug-in kit, whoever you buy it from, and you accept them when you order:
- Maximum inverter output of 800VA and 3.5A. Panel capacity may be higher.
- One plug-in device per household.
- Solar only. Kits containing batteries are excluded from the plug-in category.
- The plug must be the factory-fitted one. No extension leads or adaptors.
- You must notify your electricity distribution network operator under G98 before you connect. This is free and takes a few minutes. It goes to your network operator, not your energy supplier.
The product specification also excludes certain buildings, including those with ACM, MCM, HPL or timber cladding, timber balconies, and any building undergoing external wall fire remediation. If your building falls into one of these categories you should not buy a kit for use there.
Where we can supply
We ship to addresses in England, Wales and Scotland only.
We cannot supply plug-in kits for use at Northern Ireland addresses. Regulation 3 of SI 2026/848 extends to Great Britain only, so a plug-in connection is not permitted in Northern Ireland. Orders to BT postcodes will be refused and refunded.
It is your responsibility to check your property
We give as much guidance as we reasonably can, including region-by-region information and a postcode tool for identifying your network operator. That guidance is offered in good faith and is not a substitute for checking your own circumstances.
Before ordering, you are responsible for confirming that:
- You have permission to install. If you rent, ask your landlord. If you lease, check the lease and whether you need freeholder consent. In Scotland, tenement title deeds may require agreement from other proprietors.
- Your building is not excluded on cladding or remediation grounds.
- Your mounting point can safely carry the weight and wind loading. Balcony railings vary enormously in condition and construction.
- You do not already have generation at the property that would take you over the notification threshold. The threshold is counted across the whole property.
- Any listed building or conservation area requirements have been considered.
We cannot inspect your property and we do not accept responsibility for whether a kit is suitable for it.
Placing an order
Your order is an offer to buy. A contract is formed when we send you an email confirming dispatch, not when you place the order or receive an order acknowledgement.
We may decline an order. Reasons include a delivery address outside Great Britain, stock being unavailable, a pricing error, or a reasonable belief that the product is not suitable for the stated address.
Prices are shown in pounds sterling and include VAT. Delivery costs are shown before you pay.
If a product is listed at an obviously incorrect price, we are not obliged to supply it at that price. We will contact you and offer the option to reorder at the correct price or receive a full refund.
Delivery
Delivery timescales are shown on the product page and are estimates rather than guarantees. If we cannot deliver within 30 days of the contract being formed, you may cancel and receive a full refund.
Risk passes to you when the goods are delivered to the address you gave us.
Please inspect your delivery on arrival. Solar panels are heavy glass items and transit damage does occur. See our Delivery and Returns page for how to report it.
Your right to cancel
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you may cancel within 14 days of receiving your order, for any reason, without giving one.
To cancel, tell us in writing at info@plugpanel.co.uk before the 14 days expire. You then have a further 14 days to return the goods.
You pay the cost of returning the goods unless they are faulty or were misdescribed. For a solar panel this is not trivial and is typically more expensive than standard parcel postage.
We refund within 14 days of receiving the goods back, or of you providing evidence you have sent them, whichever is sooner. We refund the original delivery cost at our standard rate, not any premium service you chose.
We may reduce your refund to reflect any loss in value caused by handling beyond what is necessary to establish the nature and characteristics of the goods. Unpacking and looking at a panel is fine. Mounting it, drilling it, or connecting it is not.
Faulty goods
Your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are unaffected by anything in these terms. Goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described.
If something is faulty, tell us and we will put it right. Depending on when you tell us, that may be a refund, a replacement or a repair, in line with your statutory rights.
Warranty
Manufacturer warranty periods are shown on the product page. A warranty is in addition to your statutory rights, not instead of them.
Warranties do not cover damage caused by incorrect mounting, wind or storm damage where the mounting was inadequate, modification of the kit, use outside the published limits, or use of the kit with parts we did not supply.
Our liability
We do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Subject to that, we are not liable for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable, for loss arising from installation carried out by you or someone on your behalf, for loss caused by failure to notify your network operator, or for any business loss.
Our total liability for any order will not exceed the amount you paid for it.
Nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
Estimated output figures
Any generation or saving figures on this site are modelled estimates for illustration. Real output depends on orientation, tilt, shading, weather, how clean the glass is, and how much electricity you happen to be using at the time. We do not guarantee any level of output or saving.
Complaints
If something has gone wrong, email info@plugpanel.co.uk and tell us what happened. We aim to acknowledge within two working days and resolve matters within fourteen days.
General
We may update these terms. The version that applies to your order is the one published when you placed it.
If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland you may bring proceedings in Scotland.
