Who we are

PlugPanel Ltd is the data controller for the personal information described here. We are registered in England and Wales, company number 17412062, at 46 Orient Road, Lancing BN15 8JZ.

If you have a question about your data, email info@plugpanel.co.uk.

The short version

We collect what we need to sell you a solar kit and get it to your door. We do not sell your data. We do not build advertising profiles. If you sign up for launch updates we email you rarely and you can stop it in one click.

What we collect and why

When you place an order

Your name, delivery and billing address, email address, phone number if you give one, and what you ordered.

We need this to fulfil the contract between us. Without it we cannot take your order or deliver anything.

We do not see or store your full card details. Payments are handled by Shopify Payments and the card networks. We receive confirmation that payment succeeded and the last four digits of the card.

When you use the contact form

Your name, email address, your message, and your postcode if you choose to give it.

We use this to answer you. The postcode field is optional and exists so we can tell you which network operator covers your address without a second exchange of emails.

When you sign up for updates

Your email address only.

We rely on your consent. You gave it by entering your address and pressing the button, and you can withdraw it at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email we send.

When you use the postcode tool

Nothing. The postcode lookup runs entirely in your browser. The postcode you type is never sent to us or to anyone else, and it is not stored.

When you browse the site

Shopify sets cookies necessary for the site to work, including keeping your basket contents between pages. Our hosting platform records standard technical information such as pages requested and approximate location by country.

Who we share it with

We share the minimum necessary with:

  • Shopify, who host the store and process orders and payments.
  • Our suppliers and carriers, who receive the delivery details needed to ship your order.
  • Google Workspace, who provide our email.

Some of these providers operate outside the UK. Where that happens, transfers are covered by the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or an adequacy decision.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it with advertisers.

How long we keep it

  • Order records: six years after the end of the tax year in which the order was placed, because HMRC requires it.
  • Contact form messages: two years, so we can pick up a thread if you come back to us.
  • Marketing signups: until you unsubscribe, or three years without engagement, whichever comes first.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask us to:

  • Tell you what personal data we hold about you, and give you a copy.
  • Correct anything inaccurate.
  • Delete your data, where we are not legally required to keep it. Order records within the six year window are the main exception.
  • Stop or limit how we use it.
  • Provide it in a portable format.
  • Stop sending you marketing, which you can also do yourself in one click.

Email info@plugpanel.co.uk and we will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you came to us first so we can fix it.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored by your browser.

The ones we use are the ones the shop needs to function: keeping your basket, keeping you logged in if you create an account, and Shopify's own security and fraud prevention. These do not require consent because the site cannot work without them.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the site will stop working if you do.

If we ever add advertising or analytics cookies, we will ask for your consent first and update this page.

Children

This site is not intended for children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal data we will update this page and change the date below.
